Thigh treatment for fat and cellulite: ONE TREATMENT!!

ChillSculpt Now Available for Cellulite Reduction at ChillRx Cryotherapy

The ChillSculpt cellulite & fat reducing device utilizes hot and cold to create a significant temperature change in the skin and fatty tissue. This large temperature change (from -18C to +41C) is called “thermal shock” and it has been proven to degrade and destroy fat and cellulite in fatty tissue. ChillSculpt utilizes precise protocols alternating hot with cold at different temperatures and time intervals to achieve these incredible results.

Fat and cellulite reduction is achieved through the sequential application of heat and cold to the targeted area. This methodology differs from CoolSculpt which only applies cold and Sculpsure which only applies heat. ChillSculpt combines the best of both of these treatments to create the most effective results for our clients!!

ChillSculpt utilizes the Pagani Cryo T-Shock device.

How it Works: Cellulite Reduction

Cellulite is more than just fat.  Fat does contribute to cellulite but so do several other factors that ChillSculpt can also address. According to this graphic (and science!) cellulite occurs when fat cells push up against the dermis (skin) and create a contour. Skin without cellulite is flat on the surface because the fat cells (small or large) are adequately contained by the dermis.

Cellulite occurs when fat cells increase in size and push against the dermis; but it also occurs when the dermis is insufficiently strong to keep fat cells from bulging at the surface. An important element of the ChillSculpt cellulite reduction treatment is fat reduction; other important elements are that it reduces pressure on and strengthens the dermis to alleviate the cellulite bulges.

What causes the pressure on and weakening to the dermis that allows the fat to bulge as cellulite at the skin surface?

  1. Loss of collagen and elastin: As collagen and elastin deteriorate the dermis weakens and is not strong enough to keep fat cells from bulging at the surface.
  2. Decline in skin & tissue metabolism (energy): Slow skin and tissue metabolism means that the body cannot detoxify dead cells, fluid and toxins from the fat layer. Excess fluid, dead cells and toxins push against the dermis and cause cellulite bulges.
  3. Loss of blood circulation and lymphatic flow in the skin and fat: Age and external stressors such as smoking reduce blood and lymphatic flow in the skin and fat. This causes the build-up of dead cells, toxins and fluid in the fat which causes the area to expand and push harder against the dermis—eventually causing cellulite bulges.

ChillSculpt addresses cellulite reduction by reducing the underlying fat layer—but it also addresses the loss of collagen and elastin, decline in metabolism and reduced blood and lymphatic flow to the area.

Cellulite reduction is achieved through the sequential application of first cold and then heat to the targeted area.

Step One: The Cold Phase.

  1. Cryolipolysis: is defined as the breakdown of fat cells due to cold exposure. As mentioned above, fat cells are more temperature sensitive than skin cells. The cold temperature created by ChillSculpt will not hurt the skin—only the underlying fat! Fat cells experience apoptosis (cell death) at roughly 3 to 7 degrees Celsius. In order to achieve this temperature in the fat, the skin should be cooled to approximately 1 to 4C (the underlying fat layer will be slightly warmer than the skin because it is closer to the body’s core). This cold temperature applied with the ChillSculpt hand piece penetrates to the subcutaneous fat, causing the lipids in the fat cell to crystallize and cause the cell wall to break apart. The lipids are mobilized and eventually detoxified from the treatment area through the circulatory and lymphatic system.
  2. Increase in skin & fat tissue metabolism:Cold temperature increases the metabolism of the skin and fat tissue. In an effort to reheat itself, the skin and fat tissue metabolism increases leading to more energy in the cells. Skin and tissue metabolism works similarly to digestive metabolism: it determines how fast skin cells turnover, respond to stressors and rebuild. When skin metabolism is high there is a lot of energy in the skin and fat—dead cells, excess fluid and toxins are detoxified.  Collagen and elastin production are also stimulated by higher metabolism. The cold phase boosts the skin and fat tissue metabolism leading to mobilization of dead cells, fluid and toxins and the stimulation of both elastin and collagen production. Removing this excess fluid and cells from the fat relieves some of the pressure on the dermis and reduces cellulite bulges.

Please note: the ChillSculpt hand piece is metallic and allows for deep penetration of cold (and heat) into the skin. The transmission of cold and hot temperature reaches deep layers of the skin where collagen and elastin reside.

  1. Cold exposure detoxifies the skin and fat tissue.Cold causes vasoconstriction in blood and lymph vessels. This mechanical action pumps out toxins and excess fluid (inflammation). Vasoconstriction is followed by reactive vasodilation which will increase blood and lymphatic flow in the area. This sequence results in the mobilization of toxins and fluid out of the target area which relieves pressure on the dermis and reduces cellulite bulges.
  2. Cold exposure improves oxygenation in the skin, strengthening it to suppress cellulite bulges.

Step Two: The Heat Phase. How it works:

  1. Increased blood & lymphatic flow:The areas of the body with the most fat tend to have poor blood supply—fat is poorly vascularized. Heating the target area of fat and cellulite causes vasodilation in blood and lymph vessels leading to increased blood and lymphatic flow in the area. This improved circulatory and lymphatic flow carries broken down fat cells out of the targeted area via the circulatory and lymphatic systems. Fat reduction in the area relieves pressure on the dermis, reducing the appearance of cellulite.
  2. Adipocyte injury:Adipocytes are fat cells and injury to these cells occurs when they are exposed to extreme temperatures (hot or cold). The ChillSculpt cellulite treatment heats the target area fat layer to between 39 and 42 degrees Celsius. At this temperature, the skin is not adversely affected; luckily, fat cells are much more sensitive to extreme temperature than skin cells. At this temperature, micro trauma occurs on the fat cell wall leading to cell apoptosis (cell death). The lipid content of the fat cell is expelled and is eventually detoxified through the circulatory and lymphatic systems. This is how the volume of fat in the treated area is reduced. Please note: the ChillSculpt applicator allows for deep penetration of the hot and cold temperature, allowing it to reach the subcutaneous fat layer. Fat reduction also reduces cellulite appearance as there is less pressure on the dermis, alleviating the cellulite bulges.
  3. Increased collagen and elastin production:heat stimulates collagen and elastin production, strengthening the dermis to reduces cellulite bulges.
  4. Enhanced blood and lymphatic flow in the skin.Heat causes vasodilation in the skin blood and lymph vessels leading to enhanced blood and lymph flow in the dermis which strengthens the skin and suppresses cellulite bulges.

Adicell Thermographic Imaging:

We use system to diagnose the client’s type and density of cellulite and fat. There are 3 types of cellulite that Adicell can identify:

Edemateous Cellulite: The least worrisome and easiest to alleviate. This type is caused by water retention due to poor blood and lymphatic circulation.

Adipose Cellulite: This type of cellulite is often associated with excess weight. It is necessary to stimulate natural fat release.

Fibrous or Sclerotic Cellulite: This is the most serious form of cellulite because it has existed for a long time and has become impacted and sclerotic.  This type of cellulite takes the most treatments to get rid of. The fat tissue must be softened before the impacted fat cells can be eliminated.

If the Adicell imaging indicates the absence of cellulite, only Fat Reduction is indicated. 10 percent of women and 90 percent of men do not have cellulite.

Note on invisible cellulite:

ChillRx utilizes the Adicell thermographic imaging system to identify client cellulite and fat reserves. Some clients have “invisible” cellulite that is not currently visible on the surface of the skin but will show up on the Adicell. Adicell allows us to identify invisible cellulite and offer treatment options to prevent it from manifesting on the client. Invisible cellulite is the early phase of cellulite when the degradation of collagen and elastin and compromised blood and lymph flow have only just begun. Many clients with invisible cellulite are young and are not fat—but may have a genetic pre-disposition to cellulite (ask about their mother’s cellulite status).

Clients with invisible cellulite should utilize ChillSculpt in order to prevent the manifestation of cellulite. Age and external stressors will cause collagen and elastin to break down and blood and lymph circulation naturally decline with age. If the client gains fat the cellulite will become visible. ChillSculpt is a great preventative treatment that future-proofs clients from cellulite.

The Adicell thermographic imaging system allows ChillSculpt to quantify client fat and cellulite loss. Clients will be photographed with their Adicell imaging plates at the beginning of each treatment. Their fat and cellulite reduction can be visually quantified and data will be stored in client record.

Adicell should accurately identify the type of cellulite a client has, even if it’s current invisible. Invisible cellulite should be treated with the appropriate protocol: i.e. edemateous, adipose or sclerotic.
