Chill Cryotherapy: Relief from Allergy Symptoms
Allergies, also known as allergic diseases, are a number of conditions caused by hypersensitivity of the immune system to something in the environment. These diseases include hay fever, food allergies, atopic dermatitis (skin rash) and allergic asthma. Food intolerances and food poisoning are separate conditions. Allergies can be seasonal or perennial (all of the time).
Common allergens:
- weed or grass pollen
- dust mites
- animal dander
- mold
- insect stings
- foods like eggs, shellfish, nuts and grains
- medications
Allergens trigger an immune response and histamine is released to counteract the allergen. Histamine is what causes allergic symptoms.
Allergic Symptoms:
- Red eyes
- Skin rash
- Sneezing, runny nose
- Shortness of breath
- Swelling
- Headache
- Nausea
- Diarrhea
Airborne allergens will most likely affect eyes, nose and lungs. Consumed allergens will provoke symptoms in the mouth, stomach and intestines.
Traditional treatment involves avoiding known allergens and the use of medications such as steroids and anti-histamines. In severe reactions, adrenaline (epinephrine) injection is recommended.
At Chill Cryotherapy we are studying the effect of cryotherapy on allergic symptoms. Whole body cryotherapy can inhibit and degrade histamine–the source of allergic symptoms. Additionally, cryotherapy triggers the release of epinephrine, a natural steroid, which reduces systemic inflammation, swelling and pain. We are currently enrolling individuals aged 14 and older in a 5 week cryotherapy trial. Participants will receive heavily discounted treatments and the opportunity to feel a whole lot better this allergy season. A short survey is required along with a commitment to complete 10 treatments in roughly 5 weeks.
Please contact us at phone to discuss enrollment. Space is limited to 10 spots. Email [email protected] for more information.
